Alternate Puff Stitch Photo Tutorial
I love this Alternate Puff Stitch pattern. It looks way more complicated than it really is. This sample worked up so quickly that I knew that I could release two photo stitch tutorials this week instead of just one.

This pattern uses only single crochets and the puff stitch. (This tutorial assumes that you already know how to work a single crochet stitch.) I will include the written directions for the puff stitch below to go along with the photo tutorial that shows step-by-step how to work this fairly easy stitch.
The Alternate Puff Stitch creates a beautifully textured solid fabric that would be perfect for items such as handbags, blankets, accents on children’s clothing, home decor, washcloths and so many more! I also liked the look of the first four rows (there’s a photo below) as a border for a blanket! I might have to try that on something…
You may have seen other designers feature certain stitches in photo tutorials such as this. The concept is nothing new and I know that some of you cannot or don’t want to watch YouTube videos and find these photo tutorials helpful.
I also intend to make more YouTube videos covering all of the stitches I am featuring here starting this fall when my kids go back to school. My house is a little chaotic right now with them being home to attempt a whole lot of video making. So those of you who prefer video, they are coming, I promise! And I will update these posts as each video is released.
For whatever type of project you choose, you will need to start out with a starting chain (foundation chain) with a multiple of 4 chains plus 2. So for instance, the example has a foundation chain of 22. A multiple of four is 20 and then I added 2. In this Alternate Puff Stitch Photo Tutorial, I’ve used Red Heart Super Saver yarn in Orchid and an H/8 (5.00 mm) hook — these happen to be my favorite hooks!
