Creamsicle Wrap
Hey there!
Did you ever start out making something with an idea in mind only to discover that, whoops, that’s not what I intended to make? Well that’s what happened with this pattern. Originally I was going to make a nice summery scarf. As I started working and getting further into the pattern, I realized that I made it too wide!
Oh well. Now it’s a wrap! Actually it can be multiple things and I love the pattern more now that I messed it up than I did the original idea. Sometimes life is funny that way. 🙂

So this Creamsicle Wrap is awesome! It’s light and airy, which is perfect for the warmer temperatures, but it is also very versatile. You can wrap it around your waist after a day at the beach like a cover up.
You can wear it as a regular wrap around your shoulders for when the sun goes down and the evening air begins to chill.
AND you can also wear it as a scarf for any time of year!
This Creamsicle Wrap pattern uses baby weight yarn to keep from adding bulk. Any size 3 yarn will work, but if you did choose to use a heavier yarn such as a size 4 medium weight yarn, it would still be fine. You would just have to take into account that your finished product could be slightly larger than my example. And I would recommend using the hook suggested on your yarn wrapper. You could even make this child size by making it shorter! Just a thought…
I also think that those yarns you see everywhere that change colors would be absolutely beautiful with this pattern. I chose to alternate between two colors, so that is another option for you. You can also omit the ruffles if you prefer. The border is added before the ruffle, so there is no change to the pattern.
The stitch pattern is easy! The only stitches you need to know are the single crochet, double crochet and cluster stitch. I’m in the process of editing a tutorial video for the stitches. I’ll update this post when it’s finished.
If you like this stitch pattern and you want to use it for another project, you would simply need a foundation chain with a multiple of 8 chains plus 2. This was another great stitch design that I got out of my most favorite crochet stitch book called The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs. Creamsicle Wrap
Materials Used:
- 1.5 skeins of Baby Bee Sweet Delight in Bashful – 4 oz. – 377 yds
- 1.25 skeins of Baby Bee Sweet Delight in Naked – 4 oz. – 377 yds
Or any size 3 light weight yarn - G/6 (4.25 mm) hook — My favorite hooks! I use them daily!
- Tapestry needle
Finished Size Approximately:
17” Width x 73” Length
(The ruffles adds 2” to either side and that is included in the length measurement)
Gauge:
19 dc stitches and 8 rows in a 4” (10cm) square.
Special Stitches:
3-Dc Cluster Stitch
*YO, insert hook into stitch, YO and draw back through. YO and draw through two loops on hook* Repeat from * to * 2 more times. YO and draw through all 4 loops on hook.
Abbreviations:
YO – yarn over
FC – foundation chain (beginning chain)
ch(s) – chain(s)
st(s) – stitch(es)
sc – single crochet
dc – double crochet
sl st – slip stitch
Notes:
- You can adjust the width of this Creamsicle Wrap pattern by using a multiple of 8 chains plus 2.
- The ruffles are optional. They are put on after the border so you can skip it if you choose.
- You can change colors using the pattern or this would also look amazing solid or with those color changing yarns.

Instructions:
FC: Ch 98
Row 1: In 2nd ch from hook, sc. *Ch 3, skip next 3 chs, 3-dc cluster st in next ch, ch 3, skip next 3 chs, sc in next ch* Repeat from * to * across. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1, sc in same st ch 1 comes out of. *Ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, sc in the top of next cluster st from previous row, ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, sc in next sc from previous row* Repeat from * to * across. Turn.
Row 3: Ch 6 ( counts as dc + ch 3). Skip next ch-3 space, sc in next sc from previous row, ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, *3-dc cluster st in next sc, ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, sc in next sc from previous row, ch 3, skip next ch-3 space* Repeat from * to * across. Dc in the last sc from the previous row. Turn.
Row 4: Ch 1, sc in the same st the ch 1 comes out of. Ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, sc in next sc from previous row, ch 3, *skip next ch-3 space, sc in next cluster st from previous row, ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, sc in next sc from previous row, ch 3* Repeat from * to * across. Work your last sc into the 3rd chain of the turning chain from previous row. Turn.
Row 5: Ch 1, sc in the same st the ch 1 comes out of. *Ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, 3-dc cluster st in next sc from previous row, ch 3, skip next ch-3 space, sc in next sc from previous row* Repeat from * to * across. Turn.
Repeat Row 2 through Row 5 until you reach Row 198.
Don’t finish off after Row 198. Turn your work after the final row.
Color Pattern

and repeat.
Border
With Bashful
Round 1: Ch 1, sc in the same st the ch 1 comes out of, sc evenly across (3 sc in every ch-3 space and one in the top of each sc and cluster st from previous row). At the corner, (sc, ch 3, sc) all in the same space. Continue to sc evenly along the length of the wrap. At the corner, (sc, ch 3, sc) all in the same space. Sc evenly along the next shorter edge. At the corner, (sc, ch 3, sc) all in the same space. Sc evenly along the last long side of the wrap. When you get to the corner, ch 3 and sl st into the first sc made of the round.
Do not finish off.
Ruffle
With Bashful
Row 1: Turn your work. Ch 1, sl st back into the ch-3 space. Ch 3 (counts as dc). Dc in the same ch-3 space. *In the next st, dc. In the next st, 2 dc* Repeat from * to * across. Your last 2 dc will be worked into the ch-3 corner stitch. Turn.
Row 2 – 4: Ch 3 (counts as dc). Dc in every st across. Turn.
Finish off. Weave in end.
Attach yarn in ch-3 space of corner on opposite end of wrap. Repeat Rows 1 – 4 for the Ruffle.
Note: For Row 1 of the second ruffle, there is no need to sl st. Just skip that part. Begin at the ch 3.
Finish off. Weave in ends.
