Easter Wreath
Spring is almost here! (Insert happy dance 🙂 )
I’ve finally completed the last wreath in my holiday series and I’m so excited to be sharing it with you today!
I wanted to do something fun and colorful for the Easter wreath and man, did I deliver. It doesn’t get too much more colorful than this.

This Easter wreath would look amazing in your home or office. You can hang it on a door or your wall, anywhere indoors. I wouldn’t recommend placing a yarn wreath outside due to weather conditions and the sun fading the colors. Although, if you choose to hang it on an exterior door, under a roof would be best.
I’ve discovered that I really enjoy making appliques and intend to start creating more of them. This wreath has an adorable little country style bunny and fully decorated Easter eggs. I used a tapestry needle and yarn for the decorations and for the cross stitching on the banner.
If you’ve never cross stitched on crochet before, it’s really quite easy. Each single crochet stitch is equal to one square on the graph. You will use a tapestry needle and yarn for your stitching. On the stitch that is supposed to have a colored block, you simply stitch an “X” shape, corner to corner on top of the single crochet stitch. The holes are already there for you.
If you are interested in me making a tutorial for cross stitching on crochet, let me know in the comments!
I consider this pattern to be an intermediate level pattern simply because of the quantity of parts and pieces that need crocheted and assembled. None of the stitches are difficult. You only need to know how to single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet. That’s it!
I’m not gonna lie, this pattern is loooong. Yet again, it is only because of all the pieces and the excessive amount of photos I insist on taking for every step. You can definitely do this! I have faith in you.

*** American crochet terms used throughout.
Instructions:
Main Easter Wreath Body
Make 3 (one in Lemon, Orchid and Turqua)
FC: Ch 540
Row 1: In 5th ch from hook, dc (V-st was made); continue to V-st in every ch across to the end. Turn.
Row 2: Ch 1 *Sc in ch-1 sp, shell st in next ch-1 sp* Repeat from * to * across. Finish off.
Holding the ends of the three garlands together (Lemon, Turqua and Orchid) and using your hook and any scrap yarn, sl st through the FCs of all three colors. For example, insert hook into the first FC st of the Lemon, and then through the corresponding FC st of Turqua, and then again through the Orchid, then sl st. Repeat with every st to the end of the FC.
Note: Stitching the garlands together is optional, but I found that it made it easier to keep everything even and in line when wrapping around the wreath form.
The FCs that you stitched together are what needs to be touching the wreath form when wrapping so that the shells are facing out. I used a clothespin to keep the first end in place. Wrap the garland around the form until the two ends are together. Stitch the ends together to secure.

Round 2: Ch 1, sc in each st up the long side and round the tip and back down the other side. Stop when you get to the base. (The base is left unworked) (13 sc)
Finish off. Leave a long tail for sewing.
Using a tapestry needle and the long tail of the pink inner ear, stitch one pink inner ear piece to the center of each soft white ear. Align the bases before stitching.
With the long soft white tail of the ear, stitch the ear to the bunny head. Repeat with the 2nd ear. If you wish, fold the top of one ear over and stitch into place. Refer to the bunny applique photo for placement.
Cut 3 – 5” lengths of white pipe cleaners. Two of the pipe cleaners will be placed like an “X” and the third will lay horizontal across the “X” shape. Insert one end of the pipe cleaner through the head where the nose meets the head leaving about 2” sticking out the front. Once the pipe cleaner has reached the back side of the head, thread it through the other side of the nose (where it is attached to the head) to poke out the other side.
Easter Eggs
Make 8 (2 in each color – pink, yellow, blue and white)
FC: Ch 4
Round 1: In 2nd ch from hook, sc in BLO. Sc in next ch, 4 sc in last ch. Working along the opposite edge, sc in next st. 3 sc in last ch. Sl st in 1st sc made of round.

Round 4: Ch 1, sc in same st ch 1 comes out of, sc in next 4 sts, 2 sc in next 2 sts, sc in next 8 sts, 2 sc in next 6 sts, sc in next 3 sts, sl st in 1st sc of round.
Decorate the eggs as you wish with yarn and a tapestry needle. The eggs with the colored dots where made by stitching an “X” and then a “+” in the same space. One has little “V”’s, one is stitched zig zag lines and the last is an embroidery technique for basic flowers called the Lazy Daisy. There is a super short video by Fave Crafts at this link that demonstrates the easy stitch.
Banner
FC: Ch 16
Row 1: In 2nd ch from hook, sc. Sc in each st across. Turn. (15 sc)
Row 2 – Row 100: Ch 1, sc in each st across. Turn. (15 sc)
Finish off.
Cross stitch the letters onto the banner. Lay your banner horizontally. Begin your “H” on the 16th row from the left side, 3 rows down from the upper edge of the banner. Each sc st is equal to one square on the graph. Use your tapestry needle and the Orchid yarn, and stitch an “X” over each st indicated in the graph.
Place the banner over the wreath body to where the “H” rests on one side and the “R” rests on the other side of the wreath. Stitch the banner in place using a tapestry needle and yarn.
Note: I found that when I got the banner in place, it was easier to turn the entire wreath upside down and lay it flat on a table, which kept the banner from slipping. It was much easier to sew into place.
Finishing
After attaching your banner, you can add the accessories.
First, attach your bunny to the Easter wreath body. I chose to stitch the long unfolded ear to the base of the banner to keep it standing straight. The rest of the bunny is tack stitched to the ruffles of the wreath.
Then, lay out your eggs until you are happy with their placement. I did this while it was sitting on my coffee table. I left the eggs where I wanted them and just turned the wreath after I sewed on each egg.
