Fireside Throw
Hey there!
I’m so proud to share my project in Sewrella’s Designer Program — The Fireside Throw!
When Ashleigh first contacted me to ask if I’d like to participate in her Designer Program, I had one of those, “OMG, she knows my name!” kind of moments. Ashleigh is one of the rock stars of the crochet industry and I had been following (and drooling) over her work for quite some time.

At the time, I had been wanting to design a throw blanket that was beginner friendly, but still had a lot of fun detail. So I (again) busted out my trusty book of stitches that I’ve come to learn that I can’t live without — The Complete Book of Crochet Stitch Designs. It has 500 stitch patterns with charts and written instructions. I absolutely love it and couldn’t recommend it any higher!!!
The combination of V-stitches and double crochets stood out to me. Since the yarn I had chosen to use was a super chunky style yarn, I wanted a design that wasn’t overly complicated and showed beautiful stitch definition. I think I accomplished that mission!
The yarn I chose to use was Lion Brand Hometown USA in the colorway called Fayetteville Frost. It is the gorgeous minty green with a pale gray mixed in. In person, it is stunning. Even if you prefer to use a different brand, any size 6 super bulky weight will work. You will need a size N crochet hook too.
You can also create this design for any size blanket you wish simply by using a foundation chain that has a multiple of 4 + 3. The dimensions of this example throw is 50″ wide by 57″ length, which is perfect for sitting around a fire under the stars or for curling up inside with a good book.
