Highland Cow Graph 2

Highland Cow Graph 2

The Highland Cow Graph 2 is an ADVANCED level graph that uses single stitches to create the cutest, highly detailed representation of the super popular Highland cow. The reason it is advanced level is because of the frequent color changes, but if that doesn’t scare you, then by all means read on!

You can use this pattern for tapestry crochet (sc), cross stitch, Tunisian crochet, knitting, cross stitch, plastic canvas, hama or pony beads, or any other craft that utilizes a graph. The finished product when using single crochets will be quite large. At the bottom of this post, there is a free printable 4-page graph, but you have the option to buy more. Keep reading to find out what’s included!

Also note:

You can use this graph for corner to corner or mini or micro corner to corner, but please keep in mind that your finished product will be enormous. I highly recommend using the micro C2C if you’re determined to use this crochet method. Feel free to use the calculators below if you are interested in using C2C or mini or micro C2C to determine an approximate finished blanket size.

If you prefer a more simple C2C-friendly Highland Cow pattern, be sure to check out Highland Cow Graph 1 at this link!

This is an ADVANCED level pattern that uses 8 different yarn colors. I do not offer yarn brand suggestions. You may have to use several brands in order to get different shades of brown. Just make sure all of your skeins are the same yarn weight.

A free printable one- and four-page graph is available at the end of this blog post. Keep scrolling!

The graph is 230 squares high by 210 squares wide.

If you purchase the full pattern using the link at the bottom of this post, your purchase will include 4 PDF’s.

1. A one- and four-page graph exactly like the one at the bottom of this post.

2. A nine-page graph with a link to video instructions for assembling your nine-page graph into one giant graph. (It’s easier to see!) PLUS the total number of blocks by color in a handy table where you can write down your project notes and a resource links list.

3. The SC or Tapestry crochet written line-by-line instructions.

4. Line-by-line color block instructions. (32 pages — a separate pdf so it’s optional to print)

PLEASE NOTE: The one-page graph is very tiny and almost impossible to use as a guide for this project, but I’ve included it anyway as an overall image you can use to track your progress. I recommend using the larger four- or nine-page graph when crocheting.

I’ve created some calculators for you to be able to determine how much yarn you need as well as an approximate finished size of your project. If you click the links below, you’ll be taken to different blog posts where the calculators are located.
