Moody Blue Shawl

Moody blue shawl

The Moody Blue Shawl is an elegant triangle shawl that boasts optional beading, giving it a luxurious feel with a little bit of sparkle! With a simple one row repeat, this shawl works up super quickly because of the taller triple crochet stitches.

You can use any size yarn you wish from thread to super bulky. And the pattern is so versatile, you can create any size imaginable from child size to 5XL+! I love patterns that give you so many options!

There is a video stitch tutorial available that you can watch at this link.

The only stitches you’ll need to know to create this shawl are the chain, single crochet, double crochet, and triple crochet — simple right? Lol! It’s easier than you think and the video stitch tutorial really helps if you’re feeling stuck.

The beading is optional, of course, as is the border. If you do opt for the beading, make sure you choose beads that have a large enough center hole to thread a tapestry needle through. You will also need to thread all of your beads onto your yarn before you ever begin your project.

If you run out of beads while you’re crocheting, simply cut your yarn, thread more beads, tie your yarn back on, and continue working.

sc – single crochet

dc – double crochet

tc – triple crochet

sl st – slip stitch

sk – skip

Notes:

  • This pattern is a simple one row repeat.
  • You can use any size yarn you wish. Just keep in mind that if you use a heavier weight yarn, your finished product will be wider and longer than the example and vice versa if you use a smaller weight yarn. But, any yarn will work!
  • You can also create any sized shawl you prefer by simply adding or subtracting rows.
  • If you are adding beads to your project, string the beads onto the yarn BEFORE you begin crocheting and the beads can replace any picot in the pattern.
  • If you didn’t string enough beads at the beginning, you can cut your yarn, string some more, then tie your yarn ends back together.
  • Adding beads is optional, just make sure you choose beads with holes large enough to pass a yarn-threaded tapestry needle through. Add your beads in any pattern you wish. The example shawl’s beading was pretty random. Do what you love!
  • A video stitch tutorial can be found at this link.
