The Realistic Deer Graph is an advanced level graph that uses Tapestry Crochet to create a realistic image of a buck. At the bottom of this post, there is a free printable 4-page graph, but you have the option to buy more. Keep reading to find out what’s included!
You can use this pattern for Tapestry crochet (sc), cross stitch, Tunisian crochet or any other craft that utilizes a graph. The finished project when using single crochets is quite large. I made this years ago and don’t have the finished measurements, but you can see from the picture that my husband, who is 6′ 4″, is holding it up. The blanket goes from his shoulders to his toes.
Also note:
You can use this graph for corner to corner or mini corner to corner, but please keep in mind that your finished product will be enormous. Feel free to use the calculators below if you are interested in using C2C or mini C2C.
This is an advanced level pattern that uses 5 different yarn colors. I do not offer yarn brand suggestions. When I created the original, I had to use several brands in order to get different shades of brown. Just make sure all of your skeins are the same yarn weight. I did include symbols on the graph to help differentiate between the similar shades of brown.
The graph is 250 squares high by 232 squares wide.
If you purchase the full pattern using the links at the bottom of this post, your purchase will include 4 PDF’s.
- A nine page graph with a link to video instructions for assembling your nine page graph into one giant graph. (It’s easier to see!)
- The SC or Tapestry crochet written line-by-line instructions.
- A one page graph (see note below)
- The finished blanket photo PLUS the total number of blocks by color in a handy table where you can write down your project notes and resource links list.
Please note: The one page graph is very tiny and almost impossible to use as a guide for this project. But, I’ve included it anyway as an overall image you can use to track your progress. I recommend using the larger nine page graph when crocheting.
I’ve created some calculators for you to be able to determine how much yarn you need as well as an approximate finished size of your project. If you click the links below, you’ll be taken to different blog posts where the calculators are located.
