Gift baskets anyone?
The other day, my hair stylist asked if I could make her some washcloths. She wanted to put gift baskets together with spa items for a few of her friends for Christmas presents. And when I sat down to design them, I couldn’t decide on just one stitch. There were so many that were just lovely, but I managed to narrow it down to three that I really loved. That’s when I decided that I would be making Sampler Spa Cloths!

Even if you’re not interested in making gift baskets, you can use these soft and absorbent cloths in your own kitchen or bath. Customize them to match your decor!
They also work up quickly and easily, which is great if you need last minute gift items! Just wrap them up in twine or a colorful ribbon and you’re all set. People will appreciate your thoughtfulness and creativity!
So when I made the one set of three cloths, I used almost a full skein of the main color and maybe a third of the second corresponding color. You will definitely need at least two skeins. I used the I Love This Cotton! that I purchased from Hobby Lobby (I love their color selection), but you can use any size 4 medium weight cotton yarn.
I hope you enjoy all of the patterns included in the Sampler Spa Cloths set!

Hi Diane! I may have been mistaken on the name of the stitch pattern. I will look into it and make some changes. I’m so glad to hear that you were able to follow the directions and that you love the cloths! Thank you for commenting!
I think I finally did the pattern correctly following your directions. It does look like your cloth. But the tutorials of the silt stitch looks different than yours?? I am loving these cloths. On my last of the trio and plan on making more
I should have said that your silt stitch directions are similar to the griddle stitch where sc is in dc. And dc in sc in alternating rows
The silt stitch spa cloth directions sounds more like the seed stitch. Watching the video for silt stitch is very different than your written pattern. Love the these cloths and gifting them
Hi Lori!
I’ve sent you an email with a photo to help show you where to place your first single crochet. Every Row 2 repeat of the silt stitch pattern is going to have a ch 2, 21 stitches and a final hdc at the end of the row. I’m so excited to hear that you are having fun making the spa cloths and that you’re looking like an expert! It’s so fun! Thanks for commenting and if you have any more questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me!
Hi Erica,
Lori, again. I am having so much fun making these spa cloths and giving them as gifts. Your patterns make me look like I’m an expert..little do they know.
But.. I am having a problem with the last pattern, the Silt Stitch. Row 2, after the chain 2, I am not sure which is the stitch I should skip. When I turn the row, my half double crochet and chain 2 is at the very end and there is a chain next to it. Is that the one I skip? I’m frustrated because the look of this pattern does not look like yours.
A You Tube video is different from your pattern.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Thank you,
Lori
Hi Lori! You are so welcome! I’m so excited that you enjoyed the Suzette pattern and found it challenging, but not too difficult. Just keep practicing and your tension will begin to even out. I had the same problem when I first started. I thought it was interesting that you’re a lefty, but you’re working righty. That must be a bit challenging too, I’d imagine. Thank you so much for choosing my pattern and for commenting!
Thank you so much for this project, I love it! I’m a beginner and I’ve only made the Suzette pattern but it came out perfect. I’ve always wanted to work with cotton but never found something easy enough, and while this is slightly challenging, which I liked , I was still able to work it out. I did have to drop to a 4.00 hook as I struggle with tension, I’ m a lefty who works righty, but didn’t change the count and the finished product still measured correctly. Can’t wait to try the other two.
Thank you.
You are so welcome! I’m so thrilled to hear that your creations will be going to such a good cause! Thank you for choosing my pattern!
