These Turkey Earrings are super cute and delicate when crocheted using thread! They are lightweight, which means they won’t pull down on your earlobes and, best of all, the pattern is easy!

Don’t just think this pattern will only make earrings! You can use it to make a variety of crafts, including, but not limited to, earrings, keychains, hair clips, tiny appliques, magnets, etc. Get creative!
If you make this pattern using a heavier weight yarn, you can create a large applique! I will be creating a turkey granny square using this pattern. The link will be added here once it’s complete so be sure to keep an eye out for that pattern! Wouldn’t a turkey granny square make the cutest holiday blanket or pillow cover?
Now enough chatter. Let’s get to the free pattern!

Notes:
- If you don’t want to purchase large rolls of crochet thread, consider purchasing embroidery thread. It’s affordable, has a huge selection of colors, and comes in smaller amounts.
- You will be starting with a chain and then working in the round around both sides of that chain.
- This pattern can be used to make a variety of crafts, including, but not limited to, earrings, keychains, hair clips, tiny appliques, magnets, etc. Get creative!
- You can make this pattern using a heavier weight yarn to create a large applique!
- Blocking is optional but highly recommended to maintain shape. You can add a bit of Elmer’s glue to your water if you want a permanent hold. Don’t put glue in spray bottle! Add glue to small bowl of water and dunk your crochet pieces quickly.

Finishing
Before blocking, use the black, red, and orange crochet thread and needle to handstitch 2 eyes, wattle, and a beak to the smaller end of the brown piece which is the head. The larger end is the body.
For the wattle, I simply stitched a line next to the beak. Simple, but cute. Also optional if you want to omit it.
Tie both ends of same color strands together in a knot behind the body and cut ends very short. No need to weave in ends since it will be hidden when attached to the yellow feather panel.
If desired, block all six pieces separately using either plain water or water mixed with a bit of Elmer’s glue to create a more permanent stiffness.
Once dried, layer 3 pieces beginning with the larger red feather panel, then the yellow feather panel and finally the body. There are several methods you can use to attach the pieces. You can hot glue them, fabric glue them, or hand sew them together.
You can adjust the direction your turkey faces or create longer earrings by adding more jump rings.
Using the pliers, pry the jump ring apart at the seam. Attach 1 jump ring between the 2 top lobes of the red feather panel. (See photo above.) Also attach that jump ring to the fish hook earring piece and squeeze seam closed with pliers.
Repeat with second earring.
I hope you’ve enjoyed the Turkey Earrings pattern!
